GL-18 with tamper-evident cap

The GL-18 thread is a widely used and versatile thread. In combination with a tamper-evident closure, it is often used as a packaging bottle in the pharmaceutical industry, for example. Typically, these bottles are produced in large quantities as pressed glass and therefore cannot be customized.

With a process patented by our partner GTG Glastechnik Gräfenroda, individual GL-18 bottles with tamper-evident closures can be produced from tubular glass. By processing tubular glass, series of 5000 bottles and more can be produced economically.

Description GL-18 bottles with tamper evident cap

Bottles made of tubular glass with standard thread GL-18 and a tamper-evident cap. GL-18 is a thread often used and in diverse applications. Together with a tamper-evident closure, e.g. it comes often found as a packaging bottle in the pharmaceutical industry. As a rule, these bottles are produced in huge quantities as pressed glass and thus cannot be adapted to special requirements.

Pressed glass bottles

In the production of pressed glass, the raw material is heated and then pressed into the desired shape. Large quantities can be produced efficiently via this route; unlike tubular glass, this form of production results in irregular wall thicknesses. As a result, pressed glass can no longer be further processed or reshaped, and therefore optimized residual emptying cannot be added subsequently.

Tubular glass bottles with tamper evident cap and GL-18 thread

GTG Glastechnik Gräfenroda has developed and patented a process for machine forming the GL-18 thread in combination with the tamper-evident closure on tubular glass bottles. The tamper-evident closure is made possible by a glass ring below the thread. At this point, a perforated ring of a cap can slip over the glass ring. When the cap is unscrewed for the first time, the ring comes off and clearly shows whether the bottle has already been opened.

The GL-18 thread can be combined well with the VMAX and or the S³ Vial, for example. Economic production of individual vials is possible from a quantity of 5000 pieces. VMAX and S³Vial are expressly suitable as a packaging bottle for pharmaceutical products. We will be happy to calculate your individual bottle with GL18 thread and tamper-evident closure, with or without optimized residual emptying, on request.

VMAX with GL-18 with tamper-evident cap

Already produced and therefore available as a sample is a VMAX with 10ml. The bottle then has a height of 58cm and a diameter of 25mm. Thanks to the optimized residual volume drainage by the VMAX base, a dead volume of less than 7µl remains. The VMAX is made of amber glass

S³Vial with GL-18 with tamper evident cap

Also produced and available as a sample GL-18 tamper-evident closure is an S³Vial. The vial made of amber glass almost up to 2.5 ml and is designed especially for powdered substances in milligram or nanogram. The vial has a height of 58 mm and a diameter for 25mm.
