Migration cell Migra cell type A
Overview
Migration cell Migra cell type-A has a food contact area of 2.5 dm2 and can be filled with up to 125ml of test food (simulant). The migration cell is designed for temperatures up to a maximum of 180°C and a minimum of -15°C. The Migra cell type A can withstand a pressure of up to 1 bar. It is manufactured in accordance with EN1186-1-2002 and is offered as a complete migration cell with inner cylinder and retaining plate set.

Migration cell Migra cell type A
The Migra Cell Type-A migration cell is highly dense and is chemically resistant to the simulant foods described in Regulation 10/2011 (PIM) and 2016/1416 (amending and correcting 10/2011), as well as to the substitute food simulants ethanol 95%, isooctane or water for organoleptic testing. The advantage of a migration cell is that the one-sided contact can be readjusted without cutting edges or other effects. For testing mass transfers of packaging surfaces in food simulants, EN 1186-1 describes the migration cell type A as the standard migration cell. Comparative studies of the performance of type A, B, C, D, E, and F cells have shown that these cells have produced similar results and should be considered equivalent (1186-1-2002, 9.4). In the practice of migration testing, it has proven useful not to work with migration cells of a certain unit size, but to use cells of different sizes appropriate to the problem. Inner cylinder
The inner cylinder is made of high quality stainless steel (VA 1.4571) with a height of 20mm. It is also equipped with a groove on the top and bottom respectively. Besides, the inner cylinder is equipped with an O-ring seal FEP coating and a silicone core with a diameter of 178mm (measured from center to center).
